Development of analysis and summarization techniques for Affymetrix arrays at probe level

Term: 12/2006 - 12/2008

Topic:
The goal of this project is to develop a summarization technique for Affymetrix gene expression microarrays that is optimized towards identifying candidate probe sets that are able to predict the response of a cell line to a given compound.
The gene expression levels of cell lines of different tumor origin (prostate / lung / colon / etc.) grown under normal laboratory conditions without compound treatment are determined using Affymetrix gene expression microarrays. These arrays measure the presence of various RNA species by binding them to 11 different probes - the so-called probe set.
